I completed this absurdist work through my serious performance.

My name is Zhuang yuan, which means manor, and the word can be commonly seen in china. So from an early age, I began to explore my identity. Apart from being my name, what else does“Zhuang Yuan” stand for? If there are many other things named “Zhuang Yuan”, who I am? Therefore, I have thought about the relation between me as an individual, and the society as a whole.

 

I have a special photo album, which collects photos of products or things with my name ‘Zhuang yuan---Manor’on them. I find the process of collecting quite interesting. It seems that these photos have become a part of me.

 

Chalk is commonly used by teachers, which can be seen as a symbol of the modern system. It has a link with the thinking mode of modern Chinese people to some extent, because teachers also play an important role in shaping students’ perception of the world(. In this sense, chalk is fragile, but it is so powerful that it can influence many people. I find this contradiction very interesting.
